Condition of Shingles: Make sure that you don’t have any cracked or otherwise damaged shingles, and be sure that all shingles are firmly attached. A hail or wind storm might cause damage to your shingles. It pays to have a reputable roofing company or roofing contractor take a look in order to be certain that your roof is in good shape.
Flashing: Flashing is the metal strips on your roof between the shingles and the roof’s corners and edges that help to protect it from the elements. Look for any twisted, missing, cracked, or damaged flashing. Damaged flashing is one of the main causes of roof leaks. If you find any, contact your home roofing contractor right away,
Ice dams: Ice dams form when poor insulation lets heat escape from your home and into the attic. This warmer air melts snow on warmer days, and when the snow refreezes, forms an ice dam. This can cause water to pool up behind it, get behind your shingles, and damage your home.
